Mission Statement
At Celebrate Life, we feel it is our responsibility as a community to provide seniors with a higher quality of life. As Deeprak Chopra writes in Ageless Body, Timeless Mind, "When a person feels appreciated, life is prolonged." By experiencing the beauty of life through the arts, Celebrate Life rejuvenates the minds and bodies of seniors.
Music Therapy
Concerts for Seniors uses the tool of music to attack and prevent depression and loneliness in our underserved metro-Atlanta seniors. Celebrate Life goes beyond offering the passive and complacent activities that are usually provided at senior communities to generating high-quality, live entertainment that stimulates the senses and peaks the interest of our audience. We create an interactive experience seniors can hear, see, and most importantly feel. Celebrate Life programs nurture the spirit of seniors who are physically and mentally challenged.
During and after participating in a Celebrate Life concert, the audience is more than entertained, a positive inner transformation occurs. This transformation is best described in an article featured in Parade Magazine, "When Music Heals the Body and Soul". "For reasons we do not understand, musical abilities often are among the last to be lost, even in cases of widespread brain damage. Thus, someone who is disabled by a stroke or by Alzheimer's or another form of dementia may still be able to respond to
music in ways that can seem almost miraculous". "Stroke patients who may be unable to use or comprehend words in speech may still be able to sing the words". "As it played in my mind, the music lent me its energy, and I recovered the lost rhythm of walking."
This year, Celebrate Life will provide programs for over 4000 senior citizens, out of which 95% of the participants will leave with an increased appreciation and awareness for the arts. Seniors will be exposed to diverse programming that educate and improve their mental and physical health.
